Call for Proposals

  • Applied Arts and Applied Humanities
  • Arts Therapy (individual/communal) and its possibilities
  • Process/Representation/Interpretation/Documentation in the Arts and Humanities
  • Pedagogies
  • Language and Voice
  • Politics and History
  • Reflective Practice
  • Arts and Humanities and “productive entanglement” with the Sciences
  • Neighborhoods/Arts and Health
  • Arts as provocation or disruption
  • Arts, Community Benefit (or Well-being) and Social Change (or Justice)

We invite proposals in the following formats:

  • Formal papers (15 minutes)
  • Panels or Workshops (60 minutes)
  • Posters (dimensions announced soon)
  • 5-minute flash presentations (5-minute presentations describing an area of research and providing the audience with a bibliography)
  • Visual art, music, theatre, poetry, film, dance and other artistic media (30 minutes or less)

The conference venue has limitations in terms of space and technical support; please keep this in mind as you formulate your proposal.

Who Should Submit a Proposal
We encourage submissions from disciplines including (but not restricted to):

  • Arts and health
  • Narrative medicine
  • Literature and medicine
  • Various critical studies (e.g., disability, LGBTQ, race, media, gender, age)
  • Popular culture
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Religious/theological studies
  • Interpretive social sciences
